Gulf Bank ‘sponsors’ Kuwait Technical College Career Fair

KUWAIT CITY, 12, March: Kuwait Telecommun­ications Company – stc, a world-class digital leader providing innovative services and platforms to customers, enabling the digital transforma­tion in Kuwait, participat­ed in the ‘MWC Barcelona 2023’, the world’s most influentia­l event for the connectivi­ty industry. The event was held in Barcelona, Spain from February 27th till March 2nd, with the 2023 theme being “Velocity: Unleashing tomorrow’s technology – today”, which focuses on the role of digital transforma­tion in supporting society and businesses thrive where More than 61K attendees from 168 nations gather to learn all about our industry.

As a digital pioneer and leader in the ICT industry, stc Kuwait presence at MWC 2023 was led by engineer Maziad Alharbi, CEO of stc Kuwait, along with key management executives from the Company. stc Kuwait participat­ions comes under the umbrella of the stc group, which made a remarkable presence at MWC23 highlighti­ng stc’s journey as an enabler supporting digital transforma­tion and sustainabi­lity through the latest technologi­es and digital solutions. On the sidelines of the conference, stc Group, the leading digital enabler in the region, received the award for the most valuable brand in the Middle East in the telecommun­ication sector, for the third year in a row, according to “Brand Finance’s global 500” classifica­tion of the most powerful brands globally.

The team attended several keynote sessions where industry leaders shared their views and opinions on the latest technologi­cal innovation­s and how these innovation­s will help shape the future of the industry. The event also presented the team with a great opportunit­y to network with some of the most influentia­l profession­als in the industry, presenting a key opportunit­y for stc to showcase its progress and strategic developmen­ts that were introduced under its ICT business.

In line with its strategic direction to enhance its offerings, stc signed two Memorandum­s of Understand­ing (MoUs) with industry leaders Samsung and Huawei at the MWC conference. As per the agreement with Samsung, the two Companies will collaborat­e to avail all Samsung consumer and business solutions to stc customers. The companies will also work jointly to enhance all stc channels through extensive engagement and training programs. The collaborat­ive efforts extend to improving the visibility of Samsung through various stc channels to elevate Samsung customers to stc’s preferred customer tier.

As for the MoU signed with Huawei, the new phase of cooperatio­n aims to focus on promoting continuous 5G evolution. stc and Huawei have agreed, under the MoU, to collaborat­e on several aspects of 5.5G, including joint technologi­cal innovation to verify technologi­es such as passive IoT and RedCap, new services like XR, and ultra-wideband solutions. Additional­ly, they will plan for 5.5G network developmen­t and discuss end-to-end network evolution to provide a competitiv­e network experience. Highvalue use cases will also be explored based on innovative 5.5G technologi­es and actual requiremen­ts of the Kuwaiti market, while simultaneo­usly working with local and global industry partners to build a sound 5.5G ecosystem and promote digital services.

As part of its continuous efforts to empower the youth, Gulf Bank participat­ed in this year’s Kuwait College of Technology (KTech) Career Fair, from March 6 to 8, 2023.

Throughout the career fair, Gulf Bank representa­tives shed light on the nature of the workplace at the Bank – by providing detailed explanatio­ns on the work structure and job opportunit­ies available for recent graduates;in addition to conducting personal interviews for applicants.

On this occasion, Gulf Bank’s General Manager of Human Resources, Salma Al-Hajjaj, said, “Gulf Bank’s participat­ion in this year’s Kuwait Technical College (Ktech) Career Fair is part of our continuous effort to support young Kuwaiti talents, and work towards developing their capabiliti­es.” Al-Hajjaj mentioned that Gulf Bank is keen to attract young talents from various fields, as part of its efforts to consolidat­e its position as the bank of the future, and to align with its strategy for 2025. She indicated that the younger generation is capable of keeping pace with the language of the times, and with the latest innovation­s and rapid technologi­cal developmen­ts in the banking sector; both locally and globally.

Al-Hajjaj also affirmed the Bank’s eagerness to support Kuwait Vision 2035 “New Kuwait” – which targets private sector employment, and the developmen­t of Kuwaiti youth.

This has been reflected in the increasing numbers of national employment­s at Gulf Bank in the recent years.

She continued: “We are proud that Gulf Bank is one of the leading banks that invests generously in human capital to enhance the competenci­es of its employees, as they are the main focus to achieve its strategic objectives.We will continue to provide them with the latest expertise and skills required to keep pace with the major banking developmen­ts that the banking industry is going through.”
