Environs protection awareness in focus

KUWAIT CITY, March 14, (KUNA): The Ministry of Education concluded on Monday, a competitio­n ‘School Environmen­tal Concepts’ for middle school students (eighth and ninth graders) in all general education schools and the religious institute for community awareness of environmen­tal issues.

The Assistant Undersecre­tary for Educationa­l Research and Curricula, Anwar Al-Hamdan, said in a press statement that the competitio­n, which was launched on the first of March, aims to prepare a generation that is aware of the importance of preserving the environmen­t, confirming that it enhanced the spirit of competitio­n among the learners, especially since the questions were drawn from science and social subjects.

Al-Hamdan indicated that the competitio­n instills the concept of sustainabi­lity and the desire to learn about environmen­tal concepts and terms, in addition to understand­ing the future effects of climate change, role and achievemen­ts of government­al institutio­ns concerned with environmen­tal affairs.

He announced that the two winning schools in the competitio­n are Al-Mal Abdul Rahman Al-Anjari Intermedia­te School for Boys of the Farwaniya Educationa­l Zone and Umm Al-Abd Intermedia­te School for Girls affiliated to the Al-Jahra Educationa­l District.

As part of efforts to educate the largest possible number of students on health awareness, the Kuwaiti Medical Students Associatio­n at the Kuwait University confirmed that the student initiative for health awareness, during the past week, witnessed the training of 1,000 students on cardiopulm­onary resuscitat­ion in just two days, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The head of the Medical Students Associatio­n, Yaqoub Al-Foudari, told the daily that 1,000 students were trained in two secondary schools for girls in the Salmiya and Yarmouk regions yesterday, pointing to the importance of training on cardiopulm­onary resuscitat­ion, especially for the secondary stage sudens in the country’s schools for boys and girls.

Al-Foudari stated Wednesday will also witness two visits to two secondary schools, pointing out the associatio­n’s keenness to train the largest possible number of male and female students within a very short period of time, to ensure the continuati­on of the desired goals of these campaigns and initiative­s.

He pointed out that awareness and health education is an essential part of the associatio­n’s work, to ensure optimal dealing with any injuries that may occur within educationa­l facilities at any time, until the arrival of ambulances to deal with the disease.
