Environs protection awareness in focus
KUWAIT CITY, March 14, (KUNA): The Ministry of Education concluded on Monday, a competition ‘School Environmental Concepts’ for middle school students (eighth and ninth graders) in all general education schools and the religious institute for community awareness of environmental issues.
The Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Research and Curricula, Anwar Al-Hamdan, said in a press statement that the competition, which was launched on the first of March, aims to prepare a generation that is aware of the importance of preserving the environment, confirming that it enhanced the spirit of competition among the learners, especially since the questions were drawn from science and social subjects.
Al-Hamdan indicated that the competition instills the concept of sustainability and the desire to learn about environmental concepts and terms, in addition to understanding the future effects of climate change, role and achievements of governmental institutions concerned with environmental affairs.
He announced that the two winning schools in the competition are Al-Mal Abdul Rahman Al-Anjari Intermediate School for Boys of the Farwaniya Educational Zone and Umm Al-Abd Intermediate School for Girls affiliated to the Al-Jahra Educational District.

As part of efforts to educate the largest possible number of students on health awareness, the Kuwaiti Medical Students Association at the Kuwait University confirmed that the student initiative for health awareness, during the past week, witnessed the training of 1,000 students on cardiopulmonary resuscitation in just two days, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The head of the Medical Students Association, Yaqoub Al-Foudari, told the daily that 1,000 students were trained in two secondary schools for girls in the Salmiya and Yarmouk regions yesterday, pointing to the importance of training on cardiopulmonary resuscitation, especially for the secondary stage sudens in the country’s schools for boys and girls.
Al-Foudari stated Wednesday will also witness two visits to two secondary schools, pointing out the association’s keenness to train the largest possible number of male and female students within a very short period of time, to ensure the continuation of the desired goals of these campaigns and initiatives.
He pointed out that awareness and health education is an essential part of the association’s work, to ensure optimal dealing with any injuries that may occur within educational facilities at any time, until the arrival of ambulances to deal with the disease.
