KD 4 m collected for quake-hit
KUWAIT CITY, March 15: The Ministry of Social Affairs announced that the proceeds of donations from Kuwaiti charity organizations, which were granted licenses to collect donations for those affected by the earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria, amounted to nearly KD 4 million, using the ministry’s automation system, reports Al-Rai daily.

Ministry of Social Affairs affirmed the keenness of the Minister of Social Affairs and Community Development Eng. Mai AlBaghli to follow up the relief and humanitarian efforts launched by the ministry since the beginning of this crisis to “provide relief and support to our brothers in Turkey and Syria, in implementation of the directives of the political leadership and the instructions of the Council of Ministers.”
The ministry stated, “With direct instructions from Minister Al-Baghli, the licenses for the campaign have been extended in order to complete the march of the continuous efforts led by the State of Kuwait to provide assistance to those affected by this disaster.”
Also, Minister Al-Baghli thanked His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Mishaal AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for approving the launch of the donation campaign with the support and follow-up of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. She also thanked all citizens, residents, and all private and government institutions for their support for those affected by the earthquakes.
The minister highlighted the great role played by government agencies and charities that coordinated their efforts with the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Information and Defense in the relief campaigns via the “air bridge” which was launched by Kuwait, under the directives of His Highness, since the beginning of the crisis in a humanitarian response to support and provide relief to those affected by this great catastrophe.
