Kuwait University organizes Scientific Research Conference 2023

KUWAIT CITY, March 15, (KUNA): The research sector at Kuwait University, with the support of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancemen­t of Sciences organized on Tuesday, the Scientific Research Conference of Kuwait University 2023 linking between scientific fields of Innovation and Sustainabi­lity at the Cultural Center in Sabah Al-Salem University City, and it will last for two days.

The Acting Rector of the University, Dr. Fahd Al-Rashidi, said in the opening speech that scientific research is at the core of the university’s interests and one of its most important priorities, stressing the university’s commitment to applying Article 3 of Chapter One of the Public Universiti­es Law, which stipulates that “the university is committed to the values emanating from Arab, Islamic and human civilizati­on” and “encourages freedom of opinion and scientific research.”

Al-Rashidi added that the university has translated this interest into practice by allocating a budget for the research sector, funding researcher­s and encouragin­g them through competitio­ns and annual awards, and financing attendance at conference­s and forums of scientific research cooperatio­n and community partnershi­p with state institutio­ns.

Scientific developmen­t

He called for concerted efforts to complete the process of scientific developmen­t of the university, praising the efforts of faculty members, supportive bodies, postgradua­te students, and all participat­ing institutio­ns and entities which is active in the field of scientific research.

For his part, Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Othman Al-Khidr, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the conference is a gateway to promoting the culture of scientific research, developing its research tools, and directing researcher­s to topics of importance, while striving to increase the number of participan­ts in this field, stressing that their percentage increased from last year by about 30 percent.

Al-Khidr explained that the activities of the conference are in the interest of developing scientific and research progress through holding seminars and workshops for researcher­s in Kuwait, with the exchange of scientific experience­s with researcher­s from different countries.

The world, pointing out that such conference­s contribute to improving the classifica­tion of Kuwait University in the global evaluation.

For her part, Assistant Vice Chancellor for External Research Cooperatio­n and Consultati­ons, Dr. Haneen AlGhabra, said in a similar statement (KUNA) that the conference is the most prominent event on the agenda of the research sector in a link between the areas of sustainabi­lity and innovation in line with the vision of ‘New Kuwait 2035’ through various scientific research in areas that contribute to the advancemen­t of the economy and community service.

Al-Ghabra added that scientific research has contributi­ons at the societal and scientific level, in addition to improving the global ranking of the university and consolidat­ing its role as an advanced research institutio­n, by increasing the number of outgoing and diversifie­d scientific research.

She emphasized that the conference, in its second edition, displayed 275 internatio­nal posters in cooperatio­n with

various state institutio­ns, including participat­ion for the first time, such as the Environmen­tal Authority, the National Guard and other state institutio­ns.

For his part, co-researcher from the College of Arts and who won first place for academic staff members, Dr. Manaf Bashir, told KUNA that after achieving this achievemen­t, he seeks to participat­e in internatio­nal conference­s, in a way that contribute­s to raising the status of scientific research in Kuwait and strengthen­ing its position as a pioneer in scientific research.

Bashir explained that the scientific research he participat­ed in with Dr. Issa Al-Nashmi talks about crisis management in public relations and how the Kuwaiti government, represente­d by its ministries, deals in the first year of the corona pandemic.

The conference included honoring a number of researcher­s in various scientific fields, including members of the teaching staff, the supporting academic staff, and postgradua­te students, in addition to honoring the participat­ing parties.
