Kuwait University organizes Scientific Research Conference 2023
KUWAIT CITY, March 15, (KUNA): The research sector at Kuwait University, with the support of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences organized on Tuesday, the Scientific Research Conference of Kuwait University 2023 linking between scientific fields of Innovation and Sustainability at the Cultural Center in Sabah Al-Salem University City, and it will last for two days.
The Acting Rector of the University, Dr. Fahd Al-Rashidi, said in the opening speech that scientific research is at the core of the university’s interests and one of its most important priorities, stressing the university’s commitment to applying Article 3 of Chapter One of the Public Universities Law, which stipulates that “the university is committed to the values emanating from Arab, Islamic and human civilization” and “encourages freedom of opinion and scientific research.”
Al-Rashidi added that the university has translated this interest into practice by allocating a budget for the research sector, funding researchers and encouraging them through competitions and annual awards, and financing attendance at conferences and forums of scientific research cooperation and community partnership with state institutions.
Scientific development
He called for concerted efforts to complete the process of scientific development of the university, praising the efforts of faculty members, supportive bodies, postgraduate students, and all participating institutions and entities which is active in the field of scientific research.
For his part, Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Othman Al-Khidr, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the conference is a gateway to promoting the culture of scientific research, developing its research tools, and directing researchers to topics of importance, while striving to increase the number of participants in this field, stressing that their percentage increased from last year by about 30 percent.
Al-Khidr explained that the activities of the conference are in the interest of developing scientific and research progress through holding seminars and workshops for researchers in Kuwait, with the exchange of scientific experiences with researchers from different countries.
The world, pointing out that such conferences contribute to improving the classification of Kuwait University in the global evaluation.
For her part, Assistant Vice Chancellor for External Research Cooperation and Consultations, Dr. Haneen AlGhabra, said in a similar statement (KUNA) that the conference is the most prominent event on the agenda of the research sector in a link between the areas of sustainability and innovation in line with the vision of ‘New Kuwait 2035’ through various scientific research in areas that contribute to the advancement of the economy and community service.
Al-Ghabra added that scientific research has contributions at the societal and scientific level, in addition to improving the global ranking of the university and consolidating its role as an advanced research institution, by increasing the number of outgoing and diversified scientific research.
She emphasized that the conference, in its second edition, displayed 275 international posters in cooperation with
various state institutions, including participation for the first time, such as the Environmental Authority, the National Guard and other state institutions.
For his part, co-researcher from the College of Arts and who won first place for academic staff members, Dr. Manaf Bashir, told KUNA that after achieving this achievement, he seeks to participate in international conferences, in a way that contributes to raising the status of scientific research in Kuwait and strengthening its position as a pioneer in scientific research.
Bashir explained that the scientific research he participated in with Dr. Issa Al-Nashmi talks about crisis management in public relations and how the Kuwaiti government, represented by its ministries, deals in the first year of the corona pandemic.
The conference included honoring a number of researchers in various scientific fields, including members of the teaching staff, the supporting academic staff, and postgraduate students, in addition to honoring the participating parties.
