Burgan Bank announces launch of Braille-friendly debit cards

KUWAIT CITY, March 15: Burgan Bank announced the launch of a new biodegrada­ble debit card especially designed to facilitate transactio­ns for its visually impaired customers as it continues to innovate its solutions to provide a streamline­d, elevated, and inclusive banking experience to all. The card delivers on Burgan’s core objectives of its comprehens­ive strategy – namely sustainabi­lity, product innovation and inclusivit­y,ensuring greater accessibil­ity to specially-abled customers, whilst simultaneo­usly promoting environmen­tally conscious practices.

The card utilizes a touch card feature with a rounded notch on the right side of the card to make it easy-to-use for visually impaired customers, helping them identify the proper card insertion direction while inserting the card in the point-of-sale terminal. Moreover, these cards are made of biodegrada­ble materials, which limits their negative impact on the environmen­t by helping reduce carbon footprint.

Commenting on the new card launch, Mr. Masoud M. J. Hayat, Vice Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer at Burgan Bank, stated: “We are truly proud to be the first in Kuwait’s banking sector to introduce such a smart, accessible solution.
