Awqaf opts for unified prayer call

KUWAIT CITY, March 22: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs announced the adoption of the unified call to prayer for the five daily prayers during the blessed month of Ramadan, taking into account the time difference­s in some regions of the country, reports Al-Rai daily.

The Director of the Informatio­n Department at the Ministry, Dr. Ahmed Al-Otaibi, said in a press statement that the Undersecre­tary of the Mosques Sector, Salah Al-Shilahi, has issued an administra­tive circular to the directors of the mosques administra­tions in the country’s governorat­es about accuracy in the times of the call to prayer in Kuwait’s mosques during the blessed month of Ramadan, and the commitment of imams and muezzins in this regard.

He called for adhering to the informatio­n related to the activities of the holy month that the imams and muezzins specified in the electronic form, stressing the need to change the electronic form when there is a desire to make any change in the informatio­n.

Meanwhile, Head of the administra­tive body of the National Union of Kuwaiti Students in Kuwait University Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi has confirmed that the University Council approved the union’s request hold classes scheduled for 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm online during the holy month of Ramadan, reports Al-Jarida daily.

In a statement to the daily, Al-Otaibi disclosed this is in response to the request that the union submitted to Dean for Admissions and Registrati­on Dr Rawa Al-Jarallah to adjust the class hours during Ramadan, such that some classes will be conducted online.

Minister of Health Dr Ahmad Al-Awadi has inaugurate­d the Rumaithiya Health Center for the medical examinatio­n of expatriate workers, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources.

Sources revealed the working hours of the center during Ramadan will be in two shifts – from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm for the morning shift and from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm for the afternoon shift.
