Kuwait Police Sports Federation to host Futsal World Cup in Nov
KUWAIT CITY, March 22: Kuwait’s Police Sports Federation announced on Monday that it will be hosting the Futsal World Cup in November and that a number of teams will be taking part in the first edition of this tournament, reports Al-Rai daily.
During a press conference, Major General Waleed Al-Shehab explained that the tournament will be organized under the sponsorship of Kuwait’s Police Sports Association headed by Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
It will be organized under the technicalities of the official federation’s regulations, and also facilitate a team of referees to manage the tournament.
The federation will begin its team preparations to facilitate proper arrangements and a show of performance to debut the tournament, which will be involving 32 teams from all over the world. At the moment, 15 teams have confirmed their participation, as the registration deadline nears.
Major General Waleed Al-Shehab extended his appreciation and gratitude to the International Police Association (IPA) organization and all its members for facilitating the process of launching such a tournament.
On his behalf, the Vice President of the International Police Sports Federation (IPSF) Gonzalez Londorino affirmed Kuwait’s importance in the federation since its premiership from 1994 and the sports events organized under its leadership.
Londorino said, “Kuwait’s experience in upholding these events comes from an extensive history of its professional cadres in organizing important police sports events, thanks to the deep-rooted ties with the IPA.”
IPSF Secretary General Sandro Dirks said the federation’s role will be to facilitate the roundup of the tournament in helping with logistical and communications matters, as it will be the first indoor soccer World Cup under such precessions.
He added that this is a rejoinder for the federation’s lack of activity since the COVID pandemic came to pass.
