Water use decreases: The Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) has confirmed a decrease in the percentage of water consumption compared to production; indicating that consumption exceeded production in the past, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources.

Sources attributed the increase in production to the completion of maintenance works in a number of stations. Sources affirmed that

the maintenance of stations is carried out as per schedule.

Sources said the ministry is working hard to complete maintenance works in various stations, units and electrical network before the peak season at the end of May in order to be prepared for the expected increase in water and power consumption during summer.

Sources stressed that the ministry takes into account any shortfall in production during the next stage; as it will be compensated water wise from the strategic reserve and electrically from the Gulf interconnection network, in addition to its endeavor to secure electricity by purchasing from others through several initiatives with the independent supplier system that are currently being studied.
