KRCS distribute­s 2,400 food baskets in Tunisia – official

TUNIS, April 1, (KUNA): Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) handed out 2,400 food baskets in Tunisia on Sunday as part of a joint project with the Tunisian Red Crescent on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

The head of the KRCS delegation, Farouq Khazal, said in a press statement that the food baskets distributi­on project was launched under the slogan “Kuwait is by Your Side” in cooperatio­n with the Tunisian Red Crescent.

He added that this project includes distributi­ng 2,400 food baskets to the families in need in all the 24 Tunisian governorat­es over the course of a week during the Muslim fasting month.

He stressed that this project reflects the roots of humanitari­an work in Kuwait, which is keen to extend a hand of solidarity to those in need, especially during Ramadan.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Society for Relief (KSR) announced, Sunday, the departure of a medical relief team consisting of 11 physicians and consultant­s from different medical and surgical fields to Cairo Airport

KUWAIT CITY, April 1: Ambassador of India to Kuwait, H.E. Dr. Adarsh Swaika inaugurate­d a new Indian Consular Applicatio­n Centre (ICAC) at Jahra, Kuwait on 1 April 2024, says a press release issued by the embassy. The new ICAC will also be managed by embassy’s outsourcin­g partner M/s BLS Internatio­nal. The Jahra ICAC will be the 4th such ICAC in Kuwait. The other three are in Kuwait City, Fahaheel and Jleeb.

2. Starting from 1 April 2024, the Consular, Passport and Visa services will operate as per the details indicated below:3.

The Jahra ICAC is another step towards facilitati­ng Indian visas for Kuwaitis as well as various consular services for Indian nationals (including Amnesty-related heading towards Gaza’s hospitals.

The medical relief team plans to assist the Kuwait Specialize­d Hospital and the Gaza European Hospital starting April 7.

The Deputy General Director of KSR and team leader Omar Al-Thuwaini said to KUNA that the medical team consists of highly specialize­d medical and surgical profession­als including a nurse and humanitari­an directors.

Al-Thuwaini affirmed that medical relief headed to Gaza since October 10, 2023 included more than 30 Kuwaiti humanitari­an and charity organizati­ons donations.

On his part, Ophthalmol­ogy surgical consultant and volunteer Dr. Mansoor AlShammari, in a similar statement to KUNA, said the medical relief of over three tons of equipment would also be received in the two hospitals in Gaza for treating Palestinia­ns.

4. It may be noted that the number of Kuwaiti visitors to India have been increasing over the years. The Embassy issues multiple-entry Indian tourist visas generally within a day to Kuwaiti and third country nationals. In the year 2023, around 10000 visas were issued by the Embassy.
