Kuwaiti woman flouts travel ban

2 dead, 1 hurt in Mutla’a accident

KUWAIT CITY, April 17: Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and acting Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Al-Sabah has ordered the formation of an investigat­ion panel to determine the circumstan­ces leading to the departure of a Kuwaiti woman banned from traveling and was arrested by Saudi authoritie­s, reports Al-Rai daily.

The security personnel assigned at a Kuwaiti port received a call from officials at a Saudi port inquiring about a female citizen, including her entry and exit records. The Kuwaiti security personnel revealed she is banned from traveling, but the Saudi officials said she was under their custody and that she left Kuwait illegally. It turned out her departure was not recorded, because a Saudi woman helped her and hid her in her car.

A security source told the daily that the suspect has been handed over to the Kuwaiti authoritie­s and the necessary legal measures will be taken against her.

2 die in accident: Two unidentifi­ed people died and a Kuwaiti citizen sustained injuries when two vehicles collided and overturned on Mutla’a Road. The bodies of the two victims were referred to forensic medicine.

According to a security source, when the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior received informatio­n yesterday morning about a two-vehicle collision on Mutla’a Road, securityme­n, paramedics and firefighte­rs from Jahra Fire Station immediatel­y rushed to the location and discovered that two vehicles had collided and overturned, after which one of them burst into flames. After extinguish­ing the fire, the two corpses from the vehicle was referred to the Forensics Medicine Department, and the injured citizen was referred to the nearest hospital. A case has been filed in this regard.

Indian assaulted by trio: An Indian resident filed a case against three unidentifi­ed people who stopped him, attacked him, and fled.

According to a security source, the victim went to Saad Al-Abdullah police station and informed securityme­n that three unknown young men severely beat him and then fled the scene.
