KUWAIT CITY, April 27: The Ministry of Education (MoE) in Kuwait has recognized the growing need for mental health support among school students due to an increase in psychological disorders and behavioral problems. To address this, the Ministry has requested the Ministry of Health to provide psychiatrists from the Kuwait Center for Mental Health to work within the Department of Social and Psychological Services. This collaboration aims to ensure that students experiencing psychological issues can access professional diagnosis and treatment, reports Al-Rai daily.

Key aspects of this initiative include: *Providing Professional Support: Psychiatrists will work within the Department’s psychological clinic to diagnose and treat students with psychological conditions, especially those requiring specialized expertise.

*Addressing Sensitive Issues: The involvement of trained psychiatrists is crucial, as some cases may be sensitive or cause embarrassment during treatment. This sensitivity is particularly significant given the age group of the students, ranging from 14 to 18 years.

*Enhanced Collaboration: The Ministry of Education’s request demonstrates a commitment to a collaborative approach with the Ministry of Health, ensuring that the mental health needs of students are met efficiently and professionally.

*Prioritizing Student Well-being: This initiative highlights the importance of preserving the safety and well-being of students by providing accessible and appropriate mental health care.

Overall, the involvement of psychiatrists in school settings is a positive step towards addressing the complex mental health needs of students and fostering a supportive educational environment.
