Kuwait heritage portrayed in NY
UNITED NATIONS: The spouse of the top Kuwaiti diplomat here joined hands with other eminent Kuwaiti women in holding “the Kuwaiti soire” late on Thursday, promoting the national culture and heritage.
Mrs Suad Al-Otaibi, wife of the Kuwaiti Permanent Delegate at the UN, Ambassador Mansour Ayyad Al-Otaibi, organized the night-time gathering at headquarters of the Kuwaiti diplomatic mission, drawing a large number of dignitaries and prominent guests, including spouses of ambassadors of brotherly and friendly nations as well as the wife of the UN Secretary General.
The activity that coincided with the 50th anniversary of Kuwait’s joining of the UN, included a documentary about history of Kuwait, its achievements in various sectors, role of the Kuwaiti woman in development of Kuwait, in addition to photographs showing tourist landmarks in the Gulf country.
Kuwaiti costume designer Muntaha Al-Ajeel displayed old and modern Kuwaiti costumes and dresses and Nora Al-Ajmi contributed with photos of the national costumes. At a corner, a tent was pitched with displayed items symbolizing the Kuwaiti’s old life-style.
