Angelina and Etab

- By Ahmad Al-Sarraf

AShe lives in a lavish mansion located in Baghdad’s Green Zone, has three modern vehicles and hires three domestic helpers in addition to receiving all-round protection from armed bodyguards. In the meantime, she failed to provide anything for the service of the poor in her country.

ngelina Jolie is considered one of the most successful Hollywood stars and yet is seen by many as a “disbeliever” whose religion is not known for certain, and a “sinner” who stripped in front of the camera multiple times and had two children with her boyfriend, fellow Hollywood star Brad Pitt.

Born in 1975, Jolie made a name for herself as an excellent actress and successful director, and won several awards including three Golden Globes. She is also considered one of the best Hollywood celebrities in many fields, and the only one to visit refugee camps in Afghanistan, Iraq, and areas within other Muslim countries that most celebrities in the Arab World most likely know nothing about. She is credited for donating tens of millions of dollars from her own money to the poor worldwide (noting that she is not a billionaire), with a large number of her donations going to Arabs and Muslims.

Jolie spends long periods of time roaming in the poorest and most dangerous locations in the world; not to shoot a movie or hunt exotic animals, but to relieve the suffering of those who are tormented. She is also known for adopting four orphans from different races, and has said on numerous occasions that she and Pitt consider adopting more children.

Despite the life of luxury and fame that she lives in, Jolie is known to be very down to earth. She does all house work when she’s at home, and often receives help from Pitt himself!

On the other hand, Iraqi lawmaker Etab Al-Doury is a Muslim woman who wears a hijab and is known for being a devout person.

She is also said to enjoy a large salary that is paid to Iraqi MPs from public tax - something that is often discussed in the Iraqi media, yet never either confirmed or denied. She lives in a lavish mansion located in Baghdad’s Green Zone, has three modern vehicles and hires three domestic helpers in addition to receiving allround protection from armed bodyguards. In the meantime, she failed to provide anything for the service of the poor in her country.

The two examples above might not be 100 percent accurate, and do not aim to improve the image of one at the expense of the other. They are only portrayed to indicate that those who help others do not necessarily have to be the ones who are most religious or devoted. — Al-Qabas
