HSBC supports Kuwait Blood Bank

-

HSBC members of staff as well as other tenants in the Al-Kharafi Building this week donated blood to support the Kuwait Blood Bank in their drive to have a sufficient supply of blood. This is the second event of its kind this year that was hosted and organized by HSBC in Kuwait.

CEO of HSBC in Kuwait, Simon Vaughan Johnson, said: “Statistics show that blood is needed for patients every three seconds and that the demand often surpasses the supply. At HSBC we greatly value the support and effort of our staff and neighbours to try and address this concern. HSBC understands the importance of playing an active role in the communities in which it operates.”

The event was very well supported by HSBC members of staff as well as the other tenants in the office block. The Kuwait Blood Bank was very impressed by the number of volunteers who participated and expressed their sincere gratitude.

Ali Al-Mahameed, Public Relations Manager of Kuwait Blood Bank, said: “I would like to convey my sincere appreciation to HSBC Kuwait for organising a very successful blood donation event. We look forward to more of these events in the future as the importance of donating blood as well as the need for all types of blood, especially the rare ones, is very great.”

Blood donation is a recommended activity for healthy people and has benefits for the donor as well as the receiver. People with rare blood types are encouraged to donate blood as often as possible. HSBC participates in a number of community activities annually that include educational, environmental as well as community programmes.
