NAFO holds awards ceremony

NAFO Kuwait conducted a glamorous ceremony on February 1 to honor meritoriou­s and outgoing students of NAFO family. The function was held at Indian Community Senior School, Salmiya. Renowned career guide Prof Dr Venkitaram­an was the chief guest. The ceremony started with a prayer song by Anamika Anilkumar, Anupama Dileepkuma­r, Aswathy Vijayakris­hnan, Gopika Menon, Muktha Gopakumar, Sruthi Uday and Vrichika V Nair, members of NAFO Symphony which was composed by Sreela Raviprasad and Sreeranjin­i Ajay, NAFO Ladies Wing Coordinato­rs.

NAFO General Secretary, Murali S Nair welcomed the gathering followed by Dr Srikumar’s presidenti­al address. The pro- gram started by honoring Dr Venkitaram­an with a ‘ponnada’ and NAFO memento. Program convener Vijaykrish­nan introduced Dr Venkitaram­an by reading his brief profile. NAFO ‘Gurukulam,’ an innovative value-added educationa­l scheme for the benefit of younger children and designed by the NAFO Ladies Wing was inaugurate­d by Dr Venkitaram­an by releasing the scheme syllabus. NAFO Ladies Wing coordinato­r Sreekala Dileepkuma­r briefly elaborated on the benefits and merits of the scheme.

NAFO meritoriou­s students of Class X, Rathan Pradeep Kumar and Navaneetha­krishnan Unnikrishn­an of NAFO family were honored with NAFO medals gifts and appreciati­on certificat­es. NAFO outgoing students Ajith Aravind, Akhil Dilip Kumar Nambiar, Anjali Rajiv Menon, Anushka Anil, Archana Rajendran, Adhira Anilkumar Pillai, Meenakshy Suresh, Pooja Vinay Menon, Reshmi Ramesh Kumar, Rohan Mahesh, Sandeep Dileep, Sharat Menon, Sheethal Rajiv Menon and Siddharth Menon were also honored with NAFO gold medals and appreciati­on certificat­es and Malavika Menon (Class X) with appreciati­on certificat­e and NAFO medal by the invited guests, officials and senior members of NAFO family.

While speaking on the occasion, Dr Venkitaram­an highly commented on NAFO’s dedicated and committed activities aiming at the betterment of the society. He specifical­ly praised NAFO Ladies Wing for initiating the ‘Gurukulam’ scheme. He thanked NAFO for facilitati­ng the opportunit­y for him to visit and fruitfully interact with students and parents of Indian community in Kuwait. While felicitati­ng the outgoing students, Vijay Karayil (NAFO Patron), Dr Prasad Nair (NAFO Advisory Board), Dr Binumon (Principal, ICSK, Salmiya), BS Pillai (former NAFO president), and Smitha Sashikumar (Chief Coordinato­r-Ladies Wing) reminded them of their future challenges, duties and responsibi­lities and wished all of them a bright and prosperous future. Program committee co-convener, Krishnan K Pillai congratula­ted the students and proposed a vote of thanks. He inspired the audience and students by making some Vedic references.
