MP: Court could reduce Syrian violators’ fines
KUWAIT: B MP Saleh Ashour asked concerned authorities at the Interior Ministry to find solutions for the Syrian expats who are facing financial penalties because their passports are not renewed, and pointed to the possibility of referring the violators to court. “The Director General of Passports and Residency Affairs has the right to send every expat in violation, be it a Syrian or otherwise, to court to rule over his violation, adding that the court usually reduces the fines in consideration of the circumstances,” Ashour said. He added that the Syrian expats’ situation is exceptional and ‘a humanitarian issue’ at the same time due to the destruction their country is going through. “This requires us to support and help them through simplifying the procedures until their crisis is over,” he said.
GCC Summit
Informed sources said the Gulf Summit next month in Qatar will be dominated by security aspects more than any other. They said that the summit will implement Kuwait’s summit resolutions and approve the procedures of creating a unified Gulf army. They said the summit will discuss the support GCC countries will give to Egypt to help it security wise, as well as financial support before an economic support summit based on the initiative of the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques after declaring Abdulfattah Al-Sisi winner of the Egyptian presidential elections. The source indicated the summit will discuss the stand towards Iran and will hold it responsible for the tragic situation in Syria, and will ask it not to interfere in Bahrain’s and Yemen’s internal affairs.
