Crown Prince urges KU graduates to double effort in Kuwait’s service
KUWAIT: His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah called on fresh Kuwait University (KU) graduates Tuesday to double effort in their services of Kuwait and contribute to its development and prosperity.
“Your role has begun ... to be the faithful sons of their beloved country, exerting utmost efforts with science, knowledge and the strength of youth in order to achieve progress and be a solid shield of national unity,” HH Sheikh Nawaf said in a speech to graduates of academic year 201314 in a ceremony held at the stadium of KU Campus in Shuwaikh.
HH Sheikh Nawaf, who conveyed congratulations of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, told fresh graduates they were the real wealth of their country. He called for providing jobs for the graduates to pave way for their “positive contribution” to the construction of the country. The graduates, he added, “are the catalyst of social development and progress, and the foundation of its security and stability ... under wise leadership of HH the Amir.”
New programs Meanwhile, Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr Bader Al-Essa, in a speech welcoming HH the Crown Prince, said KU has established new academic programs, developed the vitality of research and changed the approach of teaching to achieve maximum benefit for teachers, students and society.
KU, he added, was carrying out a comprehensive development process in order to achieve scientific and academic excellence, as well as boosting human resources to improve productivity and community service.
The university, said Essa, was creating suitable atmospheres for students to boost spirit of competitiveness and develop their skills. The minister urged the graduates to be committed to preserving interests of Kuwait.
KU’s Acting Rector Dr Hayat Al-Hajji said Kuwait University was contributing to civilized and social progress of the society. KU is helping in construction of human beings to be able to build their nation, she added. KU has been carrying out scientific researches aimed at utilizing available resources. Hajji called on the graduates to show dedication in their service of Kuwait, as well as contributing to the building and development of the country.
Return the favor
Dalal Al-Matrouk, in a speech on behalf of graduates, said it was time for the graduates to return the favor to their country which provided all means of comfort and services in order to participate in the development of Kuwait. The graduates, she said, were committed to exert every possible effort for the service and development “of our beloved nation.”
The graduation ceremony was attended by Parliament Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim, Former speaker Jassem AlKharafi, senior sheikhs, HH Sheikh Nasser Mohammad AlAhmad Al-Sabah, HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and families of the graduates. — KUNA
