‘Expo Milano iftar reflects solidarity’

ROME: Deputy Director of Kuwait’s pavilion at Expo Milano 2015 Mazen Al-Ansari has commended the Ramadan fast-breaking iftar organized by the global event in solidarity with victims of terrorist attacks. The Expo Milano 2015 held the iftar on Friday for the pavilions of Muslim countries, in addition to France, he said. The event manifested “a spirit of solidarity and unity against terrorism,” Ansari said.

The iftar, called for by sole commission­er of Expo Milano 2015 Giuseppe Sala, witnessed the participat­ion of representa­tives of Kuwait, Tunisia, Somalia, Egypt, France, and many others. It was rather a message of “fraternity and peace at the global gathering to highlight equality, solidarity and dialogue among the world’s cultures and religions in the holy fasting month of Ramadan,” Ansari said. Meanwhile, he pointed out the warm sentiments that have been shown by the Expo visitors since the terrorist attack that hit Al-Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in Kuwait City on 26 June, which killed 26 people and wounded 227 others. Ansari addressed people in attendance at the iftar, expressing Kuwait’s solidarity families of the terrorism victims worldwide. He said that the suicide attack at AlSadiq mosque targeted Kuwait’s national unity. But perpetrato­rs were disappoint­ed thanks to the fabulous shows of unity manifested by Kuwaitis, led by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah who was the first to inspect the blats scene just after the explosion took place. Commission­er of the Italian pavilion Bruno Pasquino addressed people at the iftar and reiterated his country’s solidarity with terrorism victims. Secretary General of the Union of Islamic Communitie­s in Italy Yahya Pallavicin­i spoke to participan­ts on Ramadan and the spiritual values of fasting. He said that terrorists exploit religion to serve their goals, noting that Islam is innocent of terrorism. —KUNA
