Two injured in factory fire

KUWAIT: A huge fire broke out in an aluminum and lumber factory in Amghara, said security sources. The fire started in the early hours on Friday and initial investigat­ions showed that the fire extinguish­ing system did not work. The sources added that the presence of lumber and diesel tanks in the factory worsened the situation but around 90 firemen, from Jahra, Sulaibikha­t, Ardhiya, Backup, Salmiya and Special operations teams, fought the flames and helped contain the fire in three hours and prevent it from spreading to adjacent facilities. Two firemen were injured in the process and were treated on site. Further investigat­ions are in progress.

Steel factory

In a similar incident, a fire broke out in a steel and cable factory. Firemen from Shuwaikh and Shuhada rushed to the scene and found the fire concentrat­ed in one of the corners and was immediatel­y and easily put out. No casualties were reported.

Diesel truck rolls over

A truck driver was recently rescued when he lost control over his diesel truck, which slid and rolled over along the airport road. Security sources added Kuwait Fire Service Directorat­e rescue teams quickly freed the driver who had been trapped in the wreckage, then removed the truck and worked for three hours to remove the spilt diesel in order to avoid fire and accidents.
