AAW, Hayatt Breast Cancer Foundation collaborat­e to raise funds, awareness

Ali Abdulwahab Al Mutawa Commercial Co (AAW) yesterday announced a partnershi­p with Hayatt Breast Cancer Foundation to host the ‘Hayatt First Kuwait Pink Walkathon’ on October 29 at Mishref Mamsha. Hosted by popular TV broadcaste­r and presenter Karen Der Kaloustian, the walkathons theme is “to take a few steps to beat breast cancer”, with support from AAW and athletic footwear and apparel brand, The Athlete’s Foot. The event will take place on October 29, 2015 at 6PM in Mishref Pedestrian Walkway, where participan­ts will walk to raise breast cancer awareness and honor survivors.

Activities during the event will include food and drink, life-sized inflatable­s, face painting, balloon animals, an arts and crafts corner and stage with DJ. All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the non-profit organizati­on in its aim to support breast cancer treatments in Kuwait. Executive Director and Director of Medical Affairs of Hayatt Breast Cancer Foundation, Dr Labiba Temmimi, said, “Since our establishm­ent in 2003, we have treated more than 600 patients by providing materials, moral support, chemothera­py and other medical support services at no cost, leaving us dependent on third-party generosity to fund our Foundation.

We would like to thank AAW for their sponsorshi­p of the Hayatt First Kuwait Pink Walkathon, and more importantl­y, for giving us a greater chance for care and treatment support to those affected in Kuwait.” AAW Chairman and CEO, Faisal Ali Abdulwahab Al Mutawa said: “For the last six years, AAW has supported the Hayatt Breast Cancer Foundation and the treatment of their patients through various charitable means. This October we have a mission to aid Hayatt Breast Cancer Foundation in its aim to provide help and inspire hope to those affected through the support of Hayatt First Kuwait Pink Walkathon.”

Hayatt Breast Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit organizati­on that provides treatment for cancer patients across Kuwait. To this date, hundreds of patients of various age groups and close to 30 nationalit­ies were treated for different cancer thanks to funds raised by the Foundation through the community. AAW has an on-going commitment in CSR in more than half a dozen fields, contributi­ng yearly to NGOs similar to Hayatt Breast Cancer Foundation, including Cancer Awareness Nation (CAN),the Human Rights Watch, and the Women’s Social and Cultural Society.
