Dasman Diabetes Institute holds World Diabetes Day 2015 celebration
KUWAIT: Tarek Aleryan, Director of Public Relations and Media Services at Dasman Diabetes Institute which was founded by Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences announced that the Institute which is a leading campaigner for diabetes awareness in Kuwait, will hold an informative event to commemorate World Diabetes Day tomorrow, 12 November at its premises, from 5 pm till 9 pm. The event will allow visitors to interact with diabetes specialists and dieticians as well as gather information from booths that will explain various facets of diabetes, using illustrative methods, TV presentations and brochures.
Many of the booths at the event are about educating visitors on proper dietary habits and oral health. At this event there will be informative booths by the Kuwait Diabetes Society, Kuwait Pharmacists Society, Oral Health Program (Ministry of Health), and others that will provide assistance to people living with diabetes. This event will be sponsored by Kuwait Finance House.
As part of diabetes management, lectures will be organized in the hall/auditorium to deliver additional information about diabetes care. As some diabetic patients are unable to cook healthy food, so a live cooking demonstration emphasizing cooking nutritious International and Kuwait recipes will be included in collaboration with the Peruvian Embassy in Kuwait. The event is anticipated to reflect an exciting environment for everyone and will be tailored to inform even young children through fun shows featuring clowns.
Dasman Diabetes’ Awareness event also will provide free testing by professional staff, who will conduct screenings for blood glucose and HbA1c, as well body measurements. These tests will help physicians to single out diabetic patients for advice and guide at risk patients. The event also will help visitors to meet representatives from Dasman Diabetes to learn to lead healthier lives and manage their diabetes in the correct manner.
