NBK launches advanced ‘NBK History’ smart phone app
KUWAIT: National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) launched its advanced ‘NBK History’ application on smart phones highlighting Kuwait’s history and the evolution of NBK since its establishment in 1952 as the first indigenous bank and Shareholding Company in Kuwait and the GCC.
‘NBK History’ application presents the history of Kuwait and NBK in an innovative manner. The application reviews NBK’s establishment and opening more than 6 decades ago, its development and the role it played in the development and progress of Kuwait.
The NBK History application offers an access to NBK’s museum, the first in the region to use audiovisual and interactive displays, including interviews with Bank officials and influential economists as well as short film clips. NBK Museum presents a collection of interesting artifacts such as historical documents and the first office instruments used at that time.
“The establishment of NBK History application stands as a landmark to reserve Kuwait’s History and present it to the coming generations”, said Manal AlMattar, NBK Public Relations Executive manager. “Since its establishment 63 years ago, NBK has played a significant role in the development and progress of Kuwait. NBK grew from a small local bank to one of the largest financial institutions in the region.”
Mattar added “this innovative application highlights NBK’s history and contributions in the development of the national economy. It also highlights the main periods in Kuwait’s history.”
On 15th November, NBK celebrates the 63rd anniversary of opening its doors officially for the first time following the famous Amiri Decree issued by the late Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem AlSabah on 19 May, 1952 promulgating the incorporation of the National Bank of Kuwait as the first national bank and the first shareholding company in Kuwait and the Gulf.
