Kuwait donates $1.1 million to charities in Jordan
AMMAN: Kuwaiti Ambassador to Jordan Dr Hamad Al-Duaij handed over a collection of donations of $1.1 million to two charitable organizations supporting the Syrian refugees. The donations came from the Social Reform Society with $543,000, Al-Najat Charitable Society $563,000 and Revival of Islamic Heritage Society $73,000.
The donations were given to Jordan’s AlRahma Charity, an affiliate of Social Reform Society and Al-Takaful Charity. The Ambassador stressed yesterday that the Kuwaiti leadership always supports humanitarian causes worldwide, especially refugeehosted countries. He pointed out that philanthropic activities should continue, expressing Kuwaiti embassy’s readiness to facilitate the process. The two Charities expressed appreciation for receiving this generous donation, pointing out that the money will be used to hold a collective marriage ceremony of 20 couples, to hold a hand-made product exhibition, to support orphanages, to provide inkind aid, to support education and school supplies for students. More $558,000 will be allocated to help refugees.
Yemen
In other news, the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) announced yesterday the arrival of the fourth humanitarian aid shipment to Aden in Yemen, where it will be delivered in cooperation with NGOs in the country. The aid includes 10,000 food packages, 10,000 cleaning substances and 5,000 kitchen supply packages, the society’s Board Chairman Dr Helal Al-Sayer said, adding that the aid will be delivered to all Yemeni governorates.
