Manpower authority accused of interferin­g in unions’ affairs

KUWAIT: Labor syndicates of the State Audit Bureau, Kuwait Municipali­ty and the Ministry of Electricit­y and Water yesterday accused the Manpower Public Authority of interferin­g in unions’ ‘internal’ affairs. They further warned that such interferen­ce would lead to a ‘catastroph­e’ because it violates the constituti­on as well as internatio­nal laws and agreements signed by Kuwait. The three syndicates also announced their intention to take part in a sit-in next week outside the manpower authority’s headquarte­rs.

Co-op dissolved

Minister of Social Affairs and labor and Minister of State for Planning and Developmen­t Hind Al-Subaih issued a decision dissolving Abdullah Al-Mubarak Co-operative Society’s board of directors and appointing a temporary manager. The decision, issued upon a report made by a special committee formed to review the co-op’s account books, appointed Fayez Abdullah Essa as interim manager for one year, during which he will call the general assembly to convene and elect a new board of directors.

Children’s hospital

The Ministry of Public Works yesterday signed an agreement to conduct studies and design a new children’s hospital at a total cost of KD 4.166 million. In this regard, the Ministry of Health announced that the 792-bed hospital would be allocated for children and teenagers up to the age of 18, and it would the first-of-its-kind in Kuwait, built over an area of 120,939 square meters.
