GCC military training vital: Ambassador

MANAMA: Kuwaiti Ambassador to Bahrain Sheikh Azzam Mubarak Al-Sabah yesterday said that it is very important for Kuwaitis to participat­e in military training courses with their GCC counterpar­ts. Joint training courses allow participan­ts to share experience and create unity among GCC armies, said Sheikh Azzam, also Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, while attending graduation of Kuwaitis of the 11th batch of army officers cadets of Bahrain Defense Force (BDF) at Isa Royal Military College.

He also noted that the current unstable situation in the region underlines the need for GCC states to have a qualified army at the highest levels of readiness to defend the Gulf states against any danger. Meanwhile, Kuwaiti Military AttachÈ to Bahrain Major General Brigadier Ali Al-Asaker praised the high level of military education and training at Isa college. The college is creating qualified officers on both military and academic levels, he added. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Speaker of Kuwait National Assembly Mubarak Al-Khurainij, Bahraini Field Marshal Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmad Al-Khalifa and Bahraini Defense Affairs Minister Lieutenant-General Youssef bin Ahmed AlJalahma. Moreover, the event was attended by chairman of Kuwait’s Ali Al-Sabah Military College Major General Brigadier Mohammad Ahmad Al-Khoder, who thanked the Bahrain Defense Force (BDF) for accepting the Kuwaiti students in their training courses.
