Lawmaker’s son charged with offending officer in duty
KUWAIT: A customs officer working at Salmi land border exit filed a case of insulting a public officer on duty against a lawmaker’s son, said security sources. Case papers indicate that the lawmaker’s son was driving his father’s vehicle out of Kuwait without having a power of attorney from his father, and when the officer told him he could not do so, he told him that he was the son of an MP. When the officer said that laws do not know MPs, the son insulted the officer, and was eventually banned from leaving. Security sources said that the MP tried to talk the officer out of filing a case but he refused.
Paramedics injured An ambulance rolled over several times while dispatched to Benaider ambulance center, resulting in various injuries for the crew, who were rushed to hospital for treatment.
Gun caught with passenger A 42-year-old citizen was arrested with a gun and five bullets during an inspection at Kuwait International Airport before boarding a flight to Saudi Arabia.
Body found An Egyptian man was found dead in his bed in Sabah Al-Ahmed, said security sources, noting that forensic doctors removed the bod pending further investigations.
Landmine kills shepherd A shepherd was killed when he stepped on a landmine in Mnia Abdullah desert, said security sources. An investigation was opened in the case.
Drug possession Following a wild chase, a bedoon man was arrested in Saad Al-Abdullah with 500 illicit pills. The sources added that on searching the suspect’s house, a further 6,000 pills, two guns and cash were found. The suspect confessed to owning the drugs for trade purposes and that he had been using the guns for ‘self-defense’.
Liquor possession An illegal resident was recently arrested with a number of whiskey bottles ready for sale in Mubarak Al-Kabeer, said security sources, noting that the suspect led police to a Salmiya apartment he had been using to store more bottles.
Inspection campaigns Environment police agents inspected the vegetables and fruits market in Sulaibiya to ensure the market waste was properly handled and that the market had enough hygienic specifications. Meanwhile, an inspection campaign at Kabd camps areas resulted in finding three unlicensed camps, four ready-mix trucks dumping extra concrete in addition to used tires and industrial waste dumped in desert areas. In another case, a citizen, who had been wanted for a 40-month prison sentence in a drugs related case, was arrested at a checkpoint in Sabah Al-Salem.
