Jaber Stadium... a joy!

- By Dr Nermin Al-Houti

Our words today will not be about the merits of the Jaber Stadium project and we will not get into the how, why and where about this structure - rather we will focus on the joy of the stadium’s opening.

I was honored by attending the opening of Jaber Stadium, which was under the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may Allah protect him, and what I found that day is a message for anyone who attempts to compromise the national unity that Kuwait’s people and those who live in it have, hand-in-hand, and is a cohesive shield for the “pride of the Gulf”. This is what we saw and felt during the celebration, which was a festival in which all Kuwaitis and expatriates participated to make Kuwait pulsate with joy and make its people happy, as our father the Amir said “let us be happy”, and that sentence was interpreted completely during that celebration.

Our words today are of thanks to everyone who participated, be they government or private, headed by the interior ministry, and what the officers, headed by Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad AlKhaled, did in facilitating and organizing entry and exit and helping fans to their proper seats. Thanks here is not limited to the interior ministry, rather to all our uniformed men and their unity with the crowd with their smiles and welcome for all people who came to share in Kuwait’s joy.

We, after the security and stability, thank all officials at PAYS for their efforts that was felt by all those who attended the celebration, be it the organization in the stands, taking care of the fans at all levels and making those present feel warm and welcome. These things were the main reasons of having the joy come out of the heart, and made everyone feel safe and enjoy what they came to see.

A last word: The opening of Jaber Stadium is a clear message that Kuwait is one indivisible home, that was crowned by the lyrics of the opening operetta “Here...here...the glory is here.” This is Kuwait, and it is still the glory and pride of the Gulf.
