Amiri Advisor: Amir’s UN honoring deserved

-

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the State of Kuwait truly deserved to be awarded by the UN as ‘Humanitarian Leader’ and ‘Humanitarian Center’ respectively, said Amiri Diwan Advisor Ambassador Mohammad Abulhasan.

The deserved UN honoring was due to the fact that Kuwait’s humanitarian initiatives and activities were totally based on purely humanitarian purposes, he said to reporters on the sidelines of a seminar organized by the Ministry of Oil yesterday on His Highness the Amir’s career.

Unlike some other countries which have their own motives, the prime goal of Kuwait’s humanitarian action is to provide help to the needy and the have-nots, the advisor added. He said he was highly proud of His Highness the Amir’s UN humanitarian title, terming it as a really ‘rare title.’

Meanwhile, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil Sheikh Talal Al-Athbi AlSabah boasted that the ministry always organizes annual events in February, but this year’s occasions coincide with the 10th anniversary of His Highness the Amir’s assumption of power. The ministry will unprecedentedly present 7,000-8,000 documents this year on the occasion of the country’s national festivals, the official added.

On oil prices, the official said it is the world market which sets oil prices, lamenting that supply is around 1.5-2 million barrels a day higher than demand. Non-OPEC producers, chiefly Russia and America, are mainly to blame for oil oversupply at the global market, he added. Kuwait’s current oil production hits three million barrels per day, the oil official estimated, pointing out it has reached this level for one month. —KUNA
