15 suspects arrested for harboring absconding maids
Gang members offered illegal domestic help services
KUWAIT: A 15-member gang was arrested by residency detectives for harboring absconding maids and offering their services to other people in exchange for money. The residency detectives department said the gang was operating under several bogus offices’ names, and used to send maids to homes, who later escaped and returned to the office. Those arrested were found either absconding or wanted by authorities. All were sent to concerned authorities.
Visa forgery
Residency detectives arrested a Syrian man named Mohammad Obaid for forging documents to get a family visa for his wife and son. The department said the Syrian received a residency permit for his wife and son without meeting the conditions, as his salary in the work permit is KD 200, which gave rise to suspicions. Investigations showed that he received the approval based on submitting an application in the name of another expat whose name matches his and meets the conditions, while the other man did not know about it.
Fatal crash
Two vehicles collided on Sixth Ring Road, prompting Subhan Fire Center to respond. An Egyptian man was found dead and his body was handed to the forensics department. Three injured persons were taken by paramedics.
Detour opened
The traffic department said a detour and two roundabouts will be opened across from Dasman palace at dawn today to build a tunnel that links south Kuwait City with its northeastern areas in order to complete the First Ring Road project, in addition to linking Ahmad Al-Jaber Road with Shuhada and Abdullah Al-Ahmad Roads to enhance traffic flow and manage vehicle movement.
Drugs found
Central prison security men found several joints containing what is suspected to be drugs and mobile phones with an inmate. The inmate is a Bangladeshi, and the substances were found in his cell. Legal action has been taken against him.
No injuries in fire
South and north Salmiya fire departments put out a fire in garbage behind Al-Fanar Mall in Salmiya. The flames were contained before they could spread to nearby areas. No injuries were reported.
Injured fireman rewarded
Kuwait Fire Service Directorate’s (KFSD) Deputy Director General for the Prevention Sector Maj Gen Khalid Rakan said a financial reward will be given to injured fireman Fahd Mansour Al-Fureih, in addition to promoting him, based on the instructions of State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah and Director General Lt Gen Yousuf Al-Ansari.
