Kuwaiti honored obligations for women: Leading activist
The Kuwaiti Government has honored all international obligations toward women, says Chairperson of the Kuwaiti Woman Affairs Committee Sheikha Latifa AlFahad Al-Salem Al-Sabah. Sheikha Latifa made the statement upon her departure to New York, along with an accompanying committee delegation, to take part in the 61st session of the UN’s Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), which kicked off later yesterday and proceeds till March 26th.
The Government of the State of Kuwait is exerting enormous efforts to bolster women’s role and furnish this gender of the society with health and medical care as well as securing an honorable living for them, Sheikh Latifa has affirmed. The Kuwaiti women, for their part, have proven to be capable of shouldering responsibilities and playing active roles in the Kuwaiti community, as well as being partners in decision making.
The female citizens aspire to make more accomplishments such as stopping all forms of domestic violence, says Sheikha Latifa Al-Fahad in her departure statement. She is scheduled to address the international commission about Kuwait’s experience in supporting the women, such as formation of a special tribunal for family affairs. Moreover, she will urge for halting violence against the women in troubled Arab countries. The State of Kuwait has been chosen as member of the commission with a four-year term. —KUNA
