KUWAIT TAKES PART IN ARAB CULTURAL WEEK IN MEXICO
KUWAIT: The Embassy of the State of Kuwait to Mexico participated in the activities of the third Arab Cultural Week, which lasted for a whole week at the headquarters of the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Senate, and included a display of cultural and literary publications and a photo exhibition. The Kuwaiti embassy said in a statement yesterday that the events were held under the auspices of Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray Caso and Chairman of the Mexican Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee for Asia Pacific, Senator Teofilo Torres Corzo.
The statement said that the activities of the cultural week were attended by Arab ambassadors accredited to Mexico and representatives of cultural institutions and a number of members of the Senate and House of Representatives in Mexico. In a speech during the cultural week, Videgaray stressed the depth of Arab-Mexican relations in all fields, pointing to the great synergy between the Arab and Mexican cultures and the importance of the role of the Arab community in the development and prosperity of Mexico’s economy.
He praised the great rapprochement between Mexico and the Arab countries during the recent period, which was culminated by the visit of Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Qatar in 2016. The statement pointed out that the activities of the cultural week included lectures at the Matias Romero Institute of Diplomacy and the University of Mexico, as well as a distribution of publications highlighting Kuwait’s leading role in the international arena.
