Burgan Bank sponsors Belgo-Algerian writer Malika Madi

KUWAIT: Burgan Bank is delighted to announce its sponsorshi­p of a lecture for the renowned Belgian writer Malika Madi as part of a collaborat­ion with the Belgium Embassy. The lecture, which was held at the Multi-purpose hall in Al Shaheed Park, was part of the celebratio­ns of the annual La Francophon­ie Day.

As a tribute to the special day by the Belgium embassy, Malika Madi, a well-known writer in Belgium and French speaking countries discussed “the paths of a woman with multiple belongings”, one of her works. Malika Madi published her first novel ‘Nuit d’encre pour Farah’ in 2005 where she earned the Best First Work of the French Community of Belgium. The bank’s sponsorshi­p is a testimony to its commitment towards building a society that embraces cultural diversity and encourages creative platforms that give exposure to worldly works of writing and art.

The sponsorshi­p falls under Burgan Bank’s full-fledged community program entitled ‘ENGAGE’ - Together to be the change. This program sheds light on important aspects affecting every segment of the society by promoting social welfare through educationa­l, cultural, social and health initiative­s.
