Two arrested for Smuggling

Salmi authoritie­s arrested a Saudi for trying to smuggle a Syrian with an expired residency visa into Saudi Arabia by hiding him in his vehicle, said security sources, noting that the suspect had planned to take advantage of a congestion resulting from a system breakdown, but detectives managed to foil his attempt. Both suspects were arrested and referred to relevant authoritie­s.

Reckless driver

A search is currently in progress for a reckless driver who was seen in a social media video driving his vehicle on two wheels in Ali Sabah Al-Salem Co-op Society’s parking lot, endangerin­g his own life and those of others.

Crashed drone

The wreckage of a camera-equipped drone was found after it crashed into Central Bank of Kuwait’s building, said security sources. They said the National Guard’s intelligen­ce unit was alerted, and on inspecting the wreckage, they found a memory card. The sources added that the owner was identified to be an Egyptian who turned out to be working for a company licensed to shoot some videos in Mubarakiya. The man was summoned for questionin­g and said that he lost control over the drone and lost it. The man’s story was verified after he presented the official license and documents.

Fugitive caught

A citizen wanted in nine separate cases was arrested when went to renew his passport at Shamiya citizen service center. Security sources said on checking the applicant, a clerk found that he was wanted, and reported the matter. On spotting detectives approachin­g, the man tried to escape, but was apprehende­d.

Camps removed

Ahmadi security removed three camps that were still pitched in the desert to the north of Ahmadi after the conclusion of the camping season. — Translated from the Arabic press
