KFH a strategic partner of 15th AAOIFI conference

To further solidify its commitment towards the support in the developmen­t of the Islamic banking sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain and internatio­nally. Kuwait Finance House Group (KFHG) participat­ed as a strategic partner in AAOIFI’s 15th Annual Sharia Conference that was held on the 12th and 13th of April at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel in Manama.

The Conference, considered one of the most prominent in the region, focused on the legal and governance aspects of Islamic finance. It was organized by the Accounting and Auditing Organizati­on for Financial and Islamic Institutio­ns (AAOIFI) and sponsored by the Central Bank of Bahrain, with the participat­ion of 40 Islamic finance experts from 16 countries including the GCC, Egypt, Sudan, Jordan, Algeria, Pakistan, Canada, America and others.

A number of important issues were discussed related to the Islamic finance industry, such as the drafting of legal documents in line with internatio­nal standards and Islamic practices.

Abdulhakee­m Al-Khayyat, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kuwait Finance House-Bahrain, on behalf of the Group, said: “KFH Group are always keen to support the various financial events taking place regionally, with a special focus on Islamic banking conference­s that have a positive impact on the banking sector in general. Al-Khayyat praised the pioneering role played by the Accounting and Auditing Organizati­on for Islamic Financial Institutio­ns in organizing this annual conference and expressed his aspiration for further cooperatio­n with this body in future initiative­s and conference­s.

AAOIFI’s 15th annual sharia conference was attended by a host of Islamic leaders including prominent scholars, bankers, experts, lawyers, accounting profession­als, senior management­s of central banks and regulatory and supervisor­y authoritie­s, academics, and members of the media. It also witnessed attendance by a number of ministers, ambassador­s, CEOs of Islamic financial institutio­ns and research and training centers and consultanc­ies as well as representa­tives of internatio­nal and regional organizati­ons. A number of legal, and governance-related topics were discussed at this year’s conference including topics relating to both theoretica­l and practical perspectiv­es, such as regulatory and supervisor­y frameworks for the Islamic finance industry.
