Serbian President receives letter from Amir

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met yesterday with Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah, who handed Vucic a letter from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Jarallah departed Kuwait on Sunday for Belgrade, with an accompanyi­ng delegation comprising Kuwait’s Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Ambassador Waleed Al-Khubaizi and Assistant Foreign Minister for the Deputy Foreign Minister’s Office Affairs Ambassador Ayham Al-Omar.

Meanwhile, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic heaped praise on Kuwait for its role as the main mediator in the Gulf crisis, aiming to defuse tensions between the Gulf neighbors. Jarallah held talks with the Serbian official, read a statement by the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry. Dacic said that his country was proud of its ties with Kuwait, which date back to 55 years ago and are on course for progress, the statement noted. Jarallah also held talks with the State Secretary of the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nemanja Stevanovic. The meeting tackled bilateral ties and reflected a mutual desire to propel relations between both nations to new levels, read a statement by the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry. In the meantime, Kuwait and Serbia signed memorandum­s of understand­ing (MoUs) for bilateral cooperatio­n in the oil, energy and cultural sectors. Jarallah signed the deals on the Kuwaiti side, while the Serbian signatorie­s were Minister of Energy and Mining Aleksandar Antic and Minister of Culture Vladan Vukosavlje­vic. —KUNA
