US Embassy Kuwait calls for FLTA Program applications

The Embassy of the United States in Kuwait calls on Kuwaiti nationals, early career English language teachers, and recent graduates of journalism, mass media, or American or English literature programs to apply for the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program. The Embassy is accepting applications until September 3, 2017.

The FLTA Program is a nine-month, non-degree program for early career English teachers or recent graduates in journalism and media or American or English literature. It is fully funded by the Department of State and provides the opportunity for participants to teach Arabic to US students, refine their teaching skills, increase their English language proficiency, and extend their knowledge of the society and culture of the United States. At the same time, successful candidates help strengthen foreign language instruction at U.S. colleges and universities by serving as teaching assistants for classes in their native language.

Fluency in English is mandatory, demonstrated by a score of no less than 79-80 for TOEFL IBT or 6.0 for IELTS. Ideal candidates for the program have a desire to meet people and become a part of their host community by participating in community events and campus activities. Fulbright FLTA participants are creative and self-reliant team players, who are able to maintain excellent relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
