Time to return
As young people are hungry for football and fine arts, they went in large numbers to attend the derby match between Al-Arabi and AlQadisiya clubs, hoping to see a good game. Players did not disappoint them, and played a good opening match, which is considered a promising start of the season to see such a good showdown between two top football teams. This also serves as an encouragement for fans to attend games in large numbers and to restore the good spirit of the league.
This calls upon us also to ask government officials and National Assembly members to work hard together to lift the international suspension of Kuwaiti sports and allow the Kuwait youth to return to the crowning podiums and participate in international tournaments once again. The Kuwaiti youth are frustrated towards the inability of officials to find a solution and convince FIFA to restore local sports to its previous status and lift the suspension.
The large number of fans in the first match of the league is a message to all Kuwaiti youth that they, like other football fans around the world, are willing to see their national team compete in international arenas. Kuwait Football Association did a good job when it scheduled the opening match to be between two prominent teams to test the fans’ response. And it was a good act by the fans to attend in large numbers to say that they have their support.
So, the only thing left is a serious official move, and in a manner that satisfies the international association according to its laws, so that it lifts the suspension on our sports, and has our athletes return to international arenas. We live with a deep heartbreak as we see the entire youth of the world play in regional and international tournaments, while our youth are not allowed to do so. Our message today: Enough suspension of Kuwaiti sports, and it is time for our return into international arenas. This message is for local officials and the FIFA.
