Over 240 illegals arrested in crackdowns around Kuwait

Disabled woman kidnapped, raped in Ahmadi

KUWAIT: Detectives conducted an inspection campaign yesterday in Jahra industrial area where 70 expatriate­s in violations of residency laws, including absconders and people wanted for various crimes, were arrested. Meanwhile, security forces conducted a wide scale inspection campaign in various areas around Kuwait that resulted in arresting 174 illegal residents, seven people with possession of drugs as well as an unspecifie­d number of fugitives and people caught under the influence of drugs and alcohol. In addition, 18 vehicles were impounded during the crackdown.

Rape

A man abducted a disabled woman from her workplace and raped her. He then dumped her and escaped. The victim went to a police station in Ahmadi governorat­e and told them a man forced her to leave her workplace, bundled her in his car and took her to an apartment where he raped her. Detectives were able to identify the suspect and his phone number. The man did not answer the phone when he was called, and detectives are looking for him to be arrested and questioned.

Forgery

An Asian woman and an Arab man working as company representa­tive were arrested over charges of forging an official document, said security sources. The woman had paid the representa­tive an amount of money to transfer her residency visa to another sponsor without the original sponsor’s knowledge. A case was filed.

Drugs

General security men found 17 bags of heroin and shabu (meth) that a Bangladesh­i man hid in a sandy area in Farwaniya. Policemen suspected the man who was burying the bags near an abandoned car. The man ran away, but was chased and caught. Meanwhile, police arrested a citizen late at night in Hawally and found he is wanted in an undisclose­d case by the Drugs Control General Department (DCGD). The man was taken to DCGD under heavy guard. Separately, a female citizen called police for help, and when police responded, they found that her son had detained and threatened her. Police were able to bring the man under control and found him under the influence of drugs. He was also wanted on several civil cases.

Reckless driving

A citizen was charged with resisting arrest, recklessne­ss, driving the wrong way, running a red light, driving on the pavement and not paying attention while driving, before being sent to the Drugs Control General Department for drug possession and abuse. A police patrol noticed a car in a sandy area, and the driver escaped as soon as he saw police, but he was chased and caught. He was found under the influence, and had four tablets on him. In Hawally, a bedoon was arrested for attempting to attack police after being caught in Salwa with 280 illicit tablets. The bedoon attempted to hide a bag, then refused to open it and was resisting when some tablets fell out from it.

Theft

An unidentifi­ed person stole KD 6,000 from a broker’s car. The broker parked his car in Amghara for a few minutes to buy wood, and when he returned, he discovered the money was stolen. He went to Sulaibiya police station and lodged a complaint.

Intrusion

Facilities security arrested two people for attempting to enter an off-limit area. One suspect, an Afghan national, was carrying a permit in the name of another compatriot, and entered along with the second suspect, Egyptian. The Ahmadi prosecutor ordered the arrest of the two men. The incident took place at Ahmadi Port.

Municipali­ty campaigns

Kuwait Municipali­ty’s public relations department said the capital branch carried out several campaigns at co-op societies, shops and stores dealing with food items. The campaign resulted in taking two underwriti­ngs from store owners to comply with health conditions. Meanwhile, 35 citations were issued for employing workers without health certificat­es, dealing with food items without health certificat­es, failure to adhere to general hygiene and working with expired certificat­es. In the meantime, Farwaniya branch carried out campaigns that resulted in removing 17 abandoned cars from Khaitan and Farwaniya. The campaign also included washing garbage containers in all Farwaniya governorat­e’s areas, while removing 1,824 cubic meters of leftovers.
