EQUATE showcases int’l achievements at KOGS 2017

KUWAIT: The EQUATE Group, a global producer of petrochemicals, sponsored the 3rd Kuwait Oil and Gas Show and Conference (KOGS) 2017 under the patronage of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak AlHamad Al-Sabah.

As one of Kuwait’s biggest industrial events, EQUATE sponsored the previous KOGS events in 2013 and 2015 as part of the Group’s local and global partnership with relevant industrial and commercial stakeholders within and outside the country.

EQUATE’s President and CEO Mohammad Husain said, “We started as a local producer in Kuwait and now we enjoy strong global presence as the world’s second largest producer of ethylene glycol (EG). Being the main host of our industrial operations, EQUATE continues playing a significant role in diversifying Kuwait’s income sources through petrochemicals, supporting the growth of the local plastics industry by over 450 percent since 1998, and contributing with over 60 percent of the value of national non-oil exports.”

Husain noted, “More than 90 percent of the Gulf’s overall income is attributed to the oil, gas and petrochemical sectors. In addition, the petrochemical sector represents this region’s second main source of income as we export more than 80 percent of our products.

Making a difference through this sector is critical for overall sustainability as petrochemicals are truly part of the future.” Husain noted, “We hope that KOGS 2017 will support efforts aimed at increasing production, technological solutions, overall innovation and developing human resources.”
