GCC McCarthyism needed
The term McCarthyism developed during World War II. The name came from Senator Joseph McCarthy who led a campaign to immune America against communist penetration and thus called for prosecuting communist sympathizers amongst public servants and intellectuals, which led to imprisoning many innocent people and costing many others their jobs because of exaggerated accusations of treason. Thus, and according to political terminology, the term ‘McCarthyism’ meant ‘intellectual terrorism’ as most of those subjected to it were artists, writers and media figures who had highlighted the negative sides of McCarthyism and ignored its importance in protecting US homeland and promoting patriotism.
Here in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, we need an improved ‘GCC McCarthyism’ because, in addition to the ‘hot’ wars going on around us, our countries are experiencing fierce domestic cold wars that have been penetrating our societies with the excuse of ‘freedom of speech’ while some people still practice mental manipulation, superficial handling of various problems and ignoring the danger of political Islam. In addition, some GCC governments still fear illusionary human right organizations who have been using fake slogans and mottos. All this paved towards creating a haven for evil ideas just like the horse of troy waiting to attack.
Considering such critical situations, one has to initially admit that we are going through a cold war with so many enemies including ones we already know and others we cannot even identify. The next step would be establishing the principle of ‘either with or against me’ because nations’ safety requires patriotic discipline and termination of intellectual luxuries and political opportunism. Most importantly, we need a GCC McCarthyism that calls for smart coordination amongst affected countries to detect ill practices and blacklist those spiteful ‘dreamers’ who are disloyal to their GCC home countries.
