Alghanim Industries hosted Breast Cancer Awareness Day
KUWAIT: In accordance with October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month around the world, Alghanim Industries, one of the largest privately owned companies in the region, designated Thursday, October 5, 2017 as Breast Cancer Awareness Day at the company and hosted the occasion at its headquarters in Al Hamra Tower. Director of Medical Services at Alghanim Industries, Dr Sameh Aziz, in collaboration with Breast Imaging Consultant at Al Salam International Hospital, Dr Shatha Al-Najdy, held a Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar for female employees.
The seminar highlighted the importance of proactive screening, self-examination and prevention. Towards the end of the seminar, Alghanim Industries’ Medical Services team and Al Salam International Hospital representatives offered employees free blood pressure and blood sugar tests. Every October, we join the world in holding breast cancer awareness activities that range from seminars on early detection, to networking events for employees aimed at providing a platform for discussions on these issues. We’re pleased that this year’s event was so successful and we look forward to holding similar events in the near future”.
Following the seminar, the company held a networking event where cupcakes and cookies decorated with pink ribbons, the symbol for breast cancer awareness, were distributed. Costa Coffee, an Alghanim Industries business, also took part in the event, passing out ribbons and providing pink lemonade to employees. In recognition of the day, employees were encouraged to wear a pink item of clothing.
Alghanim Industries holds engaging employee activities on a regular basis, including blood drives which the company organizes in collaboration with the Kuwait Central Blood Bank (KCBB), Breast Cancer Awareness campaigns, and charity runs and marathons in which the company funds the registration fees for employees interested in joining, in addition to celebrating the national holidays in the company.
