JW Marriott Kuwait hosts breast cancer awareness event
As part of its ongoing ‘Spirit to Serve our Community’ initiatives and in honor of breast cancer awareness month, the JW Marriott Kuwait, in collaboration with Fadia Survive and Thrive Association for Cancer Patients’ Support proudly hosted ‘Knowing is half the battle’ breast cancer awareness event recently.
The event was held at the hotel’s prestigious AlThuraya Ballroom and was attended by a huge number of cancer patients and their families, healthcare professionals, and prominent representatives from the society to support this cause besides representatives from the local newspapers and magazines.
The event kicked off by a short speech given by the President of Fadia Survive and Thrive Association, Dr Rania Azmi, in which she thanked everyone for joining today and supporting the cancer awareness cause. She explained the importance of prevention and discussed the agenda for the awareness event, detailing that she will be sharing some best practices and small changes that participants can do daily to prevent cancer and live a happier and healthier life.
She then introduced with much gratitude the distinguished guest speaker Dr Fahad Abdul Rahman Marafi, the President of Kuwait Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, for sharing his knowledge and time for this cause as he talked about the scientific part of prevention based on his extensive experience.
In addition, some cancer patients and their family members also opened up to share their stories and battle with cancer throughout the open discussion part which was moderated by Fadia Abdel Salam Ibrahim, the founding member of Fadia Survive and Thrive Association.

What it takes to believe that we all can change the status quo of current cancer situation is basically to fight together with science and knowledge.” Said Dr Rania Azmi, President of Fadia Survive and Thrive Association.
It is also worthy to note that Kuwait Marriott Hotels have held another awareness session on October 23rd, in cooperation with Dr Rania Azmi for their female employees to educate them on the importance of eating healthy to prevent cancer, as well as the importance of a balanced quality of life and key indicators for them to look out for.
