Kuwait Hotels Company, the parent company of Safir Hotels and Resorts, and real estate development company Tatwir Al-Hayat are in the process of signing a hotel management agreement. Tatwir Al-Hayat is planning to build the tallest hotel development outside Kuwait City, with a scheduled opening in 2020. The hotel component will comprise of at least 220 rooms and will be located in the Abu Halifa area, along the coastal line south of Fintas, overlooking the Arabian Gulf.
Safir Hotels and Resorts is excited to announce the future cooperation with Tatwir Al-Hayat, as it is working to strengthen its position as a national and regional hotel operator. Safir’s COO Patrick de Groot met with Tatwir Chairman Rajeh Al-Ajmy to discuss the broad outlook of the development project. The hotel component is part of a mixed-use development on a 4,771 square meter plot, which will include restaurants, commercial retail space and potentially also offices. In the coming months, the development team of Safir Hotels and Resorts will be working closely with the appointed Design Consultant to work out the optimum product mix and finer details of the project.
De Groot said: “in recent meetings with Rajeh AlAjmy and his brother Turki Al-Ajmy, we were able to agree not only on commercial terms, but, more importantly, also on how we can best work together as business partners on this project. It’s a great opportunity to share our operational and development know-how with regards to hotels at this early stage of the development.”
Safir Hotels and Resorts’ Chief Operating Officer Patrick de Groot, who recently joined the management team to drive the implementation of several exciting strategic initiatives deployed by the company, is excited about the opportunity. “In recent months we have completed the re-articulation of our upscale hotel concept, which we intend to implement across some of our existing hotels. In addition, we are working with Concept Developers (MerakiandModus, Dubai) on the development of a trend-provoking, midscale hotel concept. Our cooperation with Tatwir Al-Hayat will allow us to introduce one of these concepts to the Kuwait market in the years to come,” says De Groot. “Coming up with just the right product mix will be crucial to the future success of this project,” he adds.
