150 employees participate in 4th Coaching Conference
KPC finalizes fourth strategy for 2040: Adsani
KUWAIT: Over 150 employees from various companies - mostly from the oil sector - and other individuals are participating in the 4th Coaching Conference from Jan 28-30, 2018 at the Radisson Blu Hotel. Fifteen local and international professional coaches are presenting lectures and workshops. This three-day event is organized by Spatialco, Mashar and the International Coach Federation (ICF) Kuwait Chapter.
Deputy Chairman and CEO of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) Nizar Al-Adsani said KPC has finalized the preparations for its fourth strategy for 2040. “The oil industry is facing many major and unprecedented challenges. We believe at the oil sector that the human resource is the base for success and we are working on developing it,” he noted during the opening ceremony of the conference yesterday.
“As success comes from human resources, coaching plays a key role in the development of the personality. KPC is supporting the basic changes to add value to our clients. KPC is also offering new jobs and is supporting the private sector,” added Adsani.
Spreading awareness
Mona Al-Qattan, Marketing Director of ICFKuwait chapter, said the main goal of founding the ICF-Kuwait chapter is spreading awareness about coaching and its benefits. “We aim to help certified coaches in networking to raise the level of credibility in the market by getting certified through the ICF. Many coaches claim they are certified, but their credentials show they are not really certified from an institute,” she told Kuwait Times.
According to her, there are two types of workshops. “There are organizational and educational workshops. The organizational one focuses on developing skills, career and personal development - it’s career oriented. The educational one is mostly personal and for the family it’s more social,” Qattan pointed out.
Deputy Chairman of the ICF-Kuwait chapter Iman Al-Gharabally said this year’s coaching conference witnessed the launch of the Kuwait chapter of ICF. “A delegation from the ICF is visiting Kuwait to see the preparations and meet those who are interested in coaching in Kuwait, especially in sectors such as education, banking and oil. The oil sector particularly is highly interested in ICF since the past five years,” she explained.
“Over 200 employees of the oil sector received training at the ICF. The foundation has set certain hours of training for the participants in order to get their coaching certificates, and they also have to pass exams in order to become members of the foundation,” Gharabally added.

The Kuwait chapter will actively support the advancement of the coaching profession by providing education, networking and business development opportunities for members and their supporting community.
