Defense minister meets US military official
KUWAIT: Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah yesterday met Chief of US Military Cooperation Office, Brigadier General David P San Clemente, discussing issues of common concern. The Public Relations and Moral Guidance Department at the Ministry said in a statement that Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad praised during the meeting level of the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.
Meanwhile, the air arm of the Kuwaiti military travelled to neighboring Saudi Arabia yesterday to participate in a panGulf exercise, which kicks off today and ends on April 16. The Commander of the Kuwaiti Air Force Major General Abdullah Al-Foudari bid farewell to the officers upon their departure, read a statement by Kuwait’s defense ministry. The drill, christened, ‘Joint Gulf Shield 1’, focuses on war preparedness and exercises that aim to boost the Gulf region’s collective military prowess, the statement added.
In other news, Chief of Pakistan Navy Admiral Zafar Abbasi and his accompanying delegation visited the Mohammad AlAhmad Kuwait Naval Base yesterday. The visiting admiral was received at the naval base by Kuwaiti Naval Force MajorGeneral Khaled Al-Kandari and a number of naval force senior officials. During the visit, the two sides held a meeting discussing issues of common concern, especially military ones. —KUNA
