Speaker meets Swedish counterpart
KUWAIT: Kuwaiti National Assembly (parliament) Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanem held talks yesterday with the visiting Swedish Parliament Speaker Urban Ahlin and his accompanying delegation. Both sides discussed the Kuwaiti-Swedish relations and ways of promoting and bolstering them in all fields, especially parliamentary ones. They stressed the significance of sharing views and coordinating stances at various international events, and taking practical steps on issues and subjects that concern both sides. The talks were attended by a number of Kuwaiti members of parliament and Kuwaiti Ambassador to Sweden Nabil Al-Dakheel. The Swedish parliament speaker arrived in Kuwait on Saturday on a three-day official visit.
His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah also met yesterday with Ahlin, in a reception that was attended by head of mission of honor accompanying the guest, Secretary of the National Assembly MP Oudah Al-Rowaie and Director of His Highness the Prime Minister’s Diwan Sheikha Itemad Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, in addition to Kuwait’s Ambassador to Sweden. The visiting Swedish official met later with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
The meeting was attended by Secretary of Rowaie, Dakheel, and Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Ambassador Waleed Al-Khubaizi. In other news, Ghanem met yesterday with the outgoing Saudi Ambassador to Kuwait Abdelaziz Al-Fayez.
