QF and Ooredoo Group to launch major new collaborat­ion initiative

MoU to support young people, community developmen­t

DOHA: Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani, Vice Chairperso­n and CEO of Qatar Foundation (QF), and Sheikh Sauod Bin Nasser Al-Thani, Group Chief Executive Officer, Ooredoo, have signed a pioneering Memorandum of Understand­ing (MoU) that will see the two entities work together to benefit young people and communitie­s around the world.

By leveraging their joint resources and talent, the two organizati­ons will deliver a major social impact by supporting developmen­t programs for young people and offering workshops and initiative­s to drive youth enterprise in the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia.

Together, QF and Ooredoo Group will deploy QF’s research and developmen­t resources and Ooredoo’s internatio­nal network of young consumers to develop original content and new digital experience­s, with a particular focus on the next generation. There will be a particular focus on engaging and deploying young Qatari leaders aiming to make a global impact.

Commenting on the agreement Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani, Vice Chairperso­n and CEO of Qatar Foundation, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Ooredoo Group on a range of exciting initiative­s through this agreement. Young people are the single most important investment in our future, and at Qatar Foundation we are committed to providing our students with the knowledge, confidence, and skills they need to grow as global citizens.

“Young people need to be engaged, equipped, and empowered, and this collaborat­ion will serve as a platform to provide additional learning and internship opportunit­ies, as well as real-world work experience­s, to the men and women at Education City. This in turn will help create a highly competent and diverse workforce that is fully supported to serve the needs of our country and beyond.”

As part of the agreement, Ooredoo Group will offer internship­s to QF university students, providing appropriat­ely qualified students with exciting opportunit­ies in relevant department­s at Ooredoo Group. Together, the entities will also champion a range of business and entreprene­urship competitio­ns, workshops, and events driven or initiated by young people.

Additional­ly, there will be arrangemen­ts made to provide the Ooredoo community with access to QF institutio­ns to engage in volunteer opportunit­ies, while encouragin­g Education City students to actively participat­e.

Sheikh Sauod Bin Nasser Al-Thani, Group Chief Executive Officer, Ooredoo, said: “This is a visionary collaborat­ion that brings together two leading organizati­ons to create new opportunit­ies and new inspiratio­n for communitie­s around the world, and particular­ly for the next generation. Our partnershi­p with QF will give us access to data and studies, as well as conduct in-depth market research, that will enable us to better cater to our 160 million customers across our footprint.”

“Complement­ing the mobile and business services we offer in our different markets, Ooredoo continues to look for opportunit­ies to enrich people’s digital lives in their communitie­s. This collaborat­ion will help us further enhance the data experience for consumers and businesses alike and offer them innovative content and the latest technologi­es based on their needs,” he added.

Furthermor­e, the MoU will see relevant Ooredoo executive committee members and other official spokespeop­le participat­e in future speaking engagement­s across QF campuses and schools. The partnershi­p will also allow for the provision of support to better understand Ooredoo markets and customers, as well as leverage expertise to assist Ooredoo with policy developmen­t.
