France grants Order of Academic Palms to NCCAL chief
KUWAIT: French Ambassador to Kuwait Marie Masdupuy gave, on behalf of her government, the Order of Academic Palms (L’Ordre des Palmes academiques) to Secretary General of National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) Ali Al-Yoha.
In a ceremony held at the embassy’s headquarters on Tuesday, Masdupuy said she was proud of representing her government to honor Yoha in recognition of his role in serving Kuwait’s culture and boosting cooperation with France. She noted that the KuwaitiFrench relations are deep-rooted and distinguished on all levels.
Meanwhile, Yoha said in a similar speech that there have been many efforts, which have formed the Kuwaiti-French cultural ties, referring to archaeological excavation in Failaka Island. These efforts contain several annual activities, exhibitions and events, he said, noting that the relocation of the French center archaeology and social sciences from Yemen to Kuwait played a great role in activating global conferences and forums.
Cooperation between NCCAL and France will lead to the publication of a scientific brochure on Kuwait’s humanitarian civilization, he revealed. He stated that the brochure would be written in Arabic, English and French in a simple way. The order is a French national medal, which was set up in 1808 by Napoleon I. It is granted to distinguished and outstanding dignitaries in culture and science all over the world.
