Information undersecretaries of Yemen coalition hold coordination meeting
RIYADH: Undersecretaries of Information from member states of the coalition to restore legitimacy in Yemen met yesterday in Riyadh to discuss ways for “coordinating information efforts.” Saudi Undersecretary for External Media at the Information Ministry, Dr Khaled Al-Ghamdi, said, in his address to the conferees, that the meeting is a follow-up gathering to the coalition information ministers’ meeting which was held in Jeddah last June.
Yesterday’s meeting is scheduled to follow up on the ministerial meeting recommendations and “adopt executive mechanisms,” Al-Ghamdi added. The meeting also aims to support the legitimate Yemeni government in order to confront the Houthi and Iranian media in the region and the world, Al-Ghamdi said. Moreover, it is designed to work out “a mechanism to activate the joint media discourse of the coalition members and enhance cooperation among them”.
Al-Ghamdi has noted that the discussions will focus on the development of joint mechanisms to confront any hostile media outlets and support media institutions in the coalition countries. Kuwaiti Undersecretary of Information Tariq Al-Mizrim and Assistant Undersecretary for external media in Information Ministry Faisal Al-Mutlaqim also attended the meeting with the agenda to address cooperation with the Yemeni Ministry of Information. —KUNA
