Global Lounge reopens at Kuwait University
Global Investment House (Global), a regional asset management and investment banking company headquartered in Kuwait and located in the major capital markets of the Middle East and North African region, reopened the “Global Lounge” at the College of Business Administration at Kuwait University, Shuwaikh Campus. As Global has always believed in contributing and supporting the community especially the young generation, the company has successfully renovated the lounge and new equipment have been installed.
The opening ceremony took place on September 26, 2018, and was attended by executives from Global, officials from Kuwait University, and group of students who have appreciated and admired the newly renovated lounge being a convenient place and an appropriate environment to rest between their daily lectures and long studies. It also presents an opportunity for the students to meet, gather, and socialize with colleagues and friends.
Dr. Nayef Al-Shammari, Vice Dean for Student Affairs of Business Administration stated, “We are committed to enhance and develop the ability of students of the College towards what is best for them. Since 2004, Global has generously supported the college and sponsored the lounge with an appropriate environment for students to rest and relax during their breaks.”
The “Global Lounge” design was a result of a competition launched by Global with students of Dr. Reem Dashti from College of Architecture at Kuwait University. Several teams participated in this initiative with tasks involving research to identify the needs of the students, developing concepts and creating design visuals. It is worth noticing that nine teams participated in this competition and the winning concept was selected through joint efforts of Global and university students. Nora Irscheid and Malak Al- Suwailem won this competition and were granted the cash reward.
Sulaiman Mohammed Al-Rubaie, Chief Executive Officer of Global commented, “This is in line with the company’s commitment towards the community and the lounge is just one of Global’s contributions in this direction. Global’s contribution to the students and the youth is not only limited to these lounges but extends to include raising the investment awareness among students through training and engaging them in practical applications.”
Dr. Dashti commented, “I would like to thank Global for giving the students of the College of Architecture the opportunity to participate in such a practical project which is in line with what they learn and experience in their studies throughout the college life. I would also like to thank my students who participated in this project for their hard work, professionalism and competitiveness.” AlRubaie concluded by thanking the College of Business Administration and the Advisory Committee for the outstanding students supervised by Ikhlas Abdullah for their cooperation with Global for more than 15 years. He also thanked the students who won the competition and all those who participated by presenting their ideas and designs but weren’t lucky to win.
